What’s Inside: Exhibits, Galleries & Highlights

The museum’s architecture — five steel towers rising above the galleries — is designed to evoke the wings of a falcon, reflecting a connection to Emirati heritage and culture.

At launch, more than 1,500 objects will be on display from a broader permanent collection of over 3,000 items.

Among the must-see highlights:

  • An 18-metre full-scale reconstruction of a Bronze Age Magan boat, located in the central atrium.

  • The Abu Dhabi Pearl, considered one of the oldest natural pearls in the world.

  • Rare folios from the historic Blue Quran.

  • Galleries covering 300,000 years of history — from early human presence to maritime and desert life, ancient trade, the rise of settlements, through to the region’s transformation into the modern UAE.

  • Dedicated exhibition spaces reflecting the legacy of the UAE’s founding father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, emphasize the history, culture, and evolution of the nation.

  • Educational zones, multimedia displays, audio-visual installations, and a cinema space to screen short films about the UAE’s human and natural history.

Temporary exhibitions will also feature after launch, showcasing thematic displays related to the UAE’s heritage, archaeology, and cultural history.

The museum is designed to be fully accessible: stair-free routes, lift access, and wheelchair-friendly facilities throughout. Staff are trained under the “Hidden Disabilities Sunflower” programme, and tours in Emirati Sign Language are offered — ensuring inclusivity for visitors with disabilities.
