Air India Express launches first international Navi Mumbai flights to Abu Dhabi

In a landmark move for Maharashtra's emerging aviation landscape, Air India Express has announced the launch of direct international flights from the newly operational Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) to Abu Dhabi. The airline becomes the first carrier to initiate international operations from the region's newest aviation hub, providing travelers in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region with a strategic alternative gateway to the United Arab Emirates.

Service Schedule and Frequency

The new route is set to commence on July 15, 2026, initially operating twice a week on Wednesdays and Fridays. The schedule will expand shortly thereafter; from July 29, 2026, the service frequency will increase to three weekly flights, adding Sunday departures to the roster.

Flight timings have been optimized for connectivity:

  • Outbound: Departing Abu Dhabi at 5:45 AM, arriving in Navi Mumbai at 10:20 AM local time.
  • Return: Departing Navi Mumbai at 2:55 AM, landing in Abu Dhabi at 4:35 AM local time.

All timings are based on local schedules for both cities.

Strengthening Regional Connectivity

The introduction of this route marks a significant step in connecting India's financial capital region with one of its most vital partners for business, tourism, and family visits. By offering a second airport option within the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, the service aims to alleviate pressure on existing hubs while providing greater flexibility for passengers.

With this launch, Air India Express will operate a total of 30 weekly flights from Navi Mumbai International Airport, directly linking the facility with Abu Dhabi, Bengaluru, and Delhi. This expansion is a core component of the airline's broader growth strategy across Maharashtra. Currently, the carrier operates more than 95 weekly flights from Mumbai, over 100 from Pune, and 14 from Nagpur, solidifying its presence as a key player in western India's air travel market.

Broader Network Impact

This new addition further cements Air India Express's position as a leader in the India-West Asia corridor. The airline maintains one of the most extensive networks in the region, linking major Indian cities with destinations across Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.

Bookings for the Navi Mumbai–Abu Dhabi route are now open via the airline's official website, mobile application, and authorized travel booking platforms. The launch is expected to cater to rising passenger demand and enhance both regional and international connectivity for travelers departing from western India.
