If you zip around Ajman on an e-scooter, you might want to pump the brakes—literally. Ajman Police just announced that electric scooters of all types are now banned from public roads and streets. The move aims to cut down on risky riding and keep everyone safer.
Why the Ban Happened
Police say too many riders were ignoring basic safety rules—think no helmets, wrong-way riding, darting out of exits, and even using pedestrian crossings like racetracks. Last month’s advisory warning didn’t seem to do the trick, so now it’s a full-on ban.
Not Just an Ajman Thing
This isn’t just a local crackdown. Across the UAE, authorities have been sounding the alarm on unsafe e-scooter use. In Abu Dhabi, a viral police video showed riders in unsuitable areas, sparking talks on stricter rules. Dubai’s even set up a special task force with the RTA to keep rogue riders in check.
