Did you know that January 2nd happens to be SciFi Day? Well, now you do, and we’re going to celebrate it by letting you dive deep into the enthralling world of science fiction. We here at Gulf Moments are big fans of the genre for pushing the boundaries of human imagination, whether it be through time and space, technological advancements, alternate realities, superpowers, and list goes on. But first things first, let’s arm you with the coolest facts about the genre!  

Time travel appeared in pop culture for the first time in 1895 in H.G Wells’ novel “The Time Machine” 

The first ever science fiction movie was a silent movie by Georges Méliès called “A Trip to the Moon” and it was released in 1902 

The term “robot” was first introduced in 1920 as part of a play by Karel Čapek titled “R.U.R.” about humanoid machines and artificial intelligence 


The first graphic novel with science fiction themes was published in 1955 and was called “The War of the Worlds” by Alvim Corréa
