The anticipated visit -- which is seen as a recognition of the Gulf's digital advancement -- comes as part of a world tour to meet with users, developers, and policymakers.

Altman's discussions with UAE regulators are expected to be around "how much and how fast" AI can transform economic development, Rahul Daswani, a Dubai-based independent fintech expert, told AGBI.

"Dubai is now being spoken in the same breath as London or Singapore as a technology and financial services centre," Daswani said.

Industry observers also say that OpenAI will establish an office in UAE.

In 2019, UAE launched Regulations Lab, or RegLab, to proactively anticipate and develop future legislation for emerging technologies in order to spark new markets in the country.

ChatGPT learns from human feedback, allowing it to produce natural language, challenge incorrect assumptions, and answer follow-up questions.
