Disney has confirmed that its new Abu Dhabi theme park will feature a castle unlike anything the company has ever built — one that’s designed to rise “out on the sea.”
This reveal came straight from Disney’s We Call It Imagineering YouTube series, where senior executives shared fresh details about the landmark project.
Inspired by Water and Disney Royalty
According to Zach Riddley, Senior VP of Global Creative Strategy, the Abu Dhabi castle will be the first to fully embrace water as part of its design. The concept pays tribute to the city’s coastal setting while weaving in subtle nods to Disney favorites like Moana, Elsa, and Anna.
“This isn’t just a copy of any other Disney castle. It’s something brand new, rooted in nature and the sea,” added Ali Rubinstein, Senior VP of Global Creative Show Design.
Disney’s First Park in the Middle East
Disneyland Abu Dhabi is set to rise on North Yas Island, in partnership with developer Miral. The project will be the first Disney-branded park in the Middle East, complete with multiple themed lands surrounding the one-of-a-kind castle.
Disney says this centerpiece will define the park, setting it apart from every other Magic Kingdom in the world.
