Dubai Police Activate Emergency Plan After Heavy Rain
Digital Platforms and Maximized Readiness Deployed to Combat Flooding and Ensure Public Safety
Dubai Police have activated a comprehensive emergency response plan to tackle the ongoing low-pressure weather system, deploying advanced technology and increasing field readiness to safeguard the public. The move comes as the emirate faces unstable weather conditions, including heavy rainfall and potential waterlogging.

Brigadier Turki Abdulrahman bin Fares, Director of the General Department of Operations at Dubai Police, confirmed that the force has prepared through several strategic operational pillars. These measures include advance coordination with key partners and the development of specific response plans to address rainwater accumulation and traffic disruptions.
Technology-Driven Response
A key component of the new strategy is the elevation of readiness levels at the Command and Control Centre to maximum operational capacity. To enhance situational awareness, the police have introduced specialized digital platforms designed to monitor conditions across the emirate in real-time.
One such platform is dedicated specifically to tracking flooded streets and intersections. Crucially, data from this system is being integrated directly into popular navigation applications like Waze. This integration allows drivers to instantly identify safe and accessible routes, helping to divert traffic away from hazardous areas and reduce congestion.
Another digital initiative involves a dedicated platform for receiving assistance requests directly from the public. This streamlined channel is designed to enable faster response times and more efficient deployment of emergency teams to those in need.
On-the-Ground Operations
Beyond digital solutions, Dubai Police have significantly intensified physical patrols. Officers are being deployed across major intersections and known waterlogging hotspots to manually redirect traffic toward safer roads.
Simultaneously, search and rescue teams have been placed on heightened alert, standing by to respond immediately to any emergency incidents linked to the adverse weather conditions.
Public Guidance
In light of these operations, Brigadier bin Fares issued a clear message to the public regarding communication channels. He urged residents to reserve the emergency number 999 strictly for urgent, life-threatening cases.
Non-emergency inquiries and general information requests should be directed to the 901 call centre to ensure that emergency lines remain open for critical situations.
The activation of this plan underscores Dubai Police's commitment to leveraging technology and strategic planning to protect lives and property during severe weather events.
