Digital Dubai launches AI-powered Emirati family to humanize smart services and promote cultural identity through virtual engagement.

Dubai has taken a major step toward blending tradition with technology by unveiling its first AI-generated Emirati family, a virtual initiative aimed at enhancing public communication and showcasing the emirate’s digital transformation goals.

The project was announced on Thursday, July 31, by Digital Dubai, a government entity focused on advancing smart city initiatives. It launched with the debut of the family’s first virtual member—a young Emirati girl, dressed in traditional attire, featured in a promotional video. Viewers are invited to vote on her name, choosing between Dubai, Mira, or Latifa.

This virtual family will eventually include additional members such as a father, mother, and a brother. Each AI-generated character is being developed to reflect Emirati values and serve as a friendly, accessible interface for digital services, public announcements, and civic engagement tools.

According to officials, the AI family is designed to humanize digital communication and make government messaging more relatable, especially for younger audiences. The avatars will speak multiple languages and communicate across age groups, helping to bridge cultural understanding and increase participation in Dubai’s smart services.

This initiative aligns with Dubai’s broader push to become a global leader in artificial intelligence. The city recently ranked in the top five of the 2025 Global AI Cities Index, ahead of tech hubs like San Francisco and Tokyo.

The AI family is expected to be used in campaigns promoting digital literacy, tourism, government applications, and more. Through interactive tools, videos, and social media, the characters will serve as virtual ambassadors of the city, making complex information more digestible and engaging.

Dubai’s creation of an AI-generated Emirati family represents a pioneering approach to civic technology—merging culture, identity, and innovation. As additional family members are introduced and public interaction continues, this initiative is set to reshape how digital governance connects with the community.
