DXB reports 2.3 % year‑on‑year growth in traffic, reinforcing its status as the world’s top international aviation hub

Dubai International Airport (DXB) logged an all‑time high of 46 million passengers in the first half of 2025, marking a 2.3 % year‑on‑year increase despite regional geopolitical volatility and temporary airspace closures.

In Q2 alone (April through June), DXB welcomed 22.5 million travelers, achieving a 3.1 % rise over the same quarter in 2024—underscoring resilience amid disruption linked to escalating tensions in the Middle East.

Average traffic across the six‑month period reached approximately 7.7 million passengers per month, with daily volumes hovering around 254,000. January and April recorded record monthly figures at 8.5 million and 8.0 million, respectively.

In a statement, Dubai Airports Chairman Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum highlighted the robustness of DXB’s performance, describing it as emblematic of Dubai’s global connectivity, stability, and confidence.

DXB remains firmly entrenched as the world’s leading international hub, continuing to serve as a pivotal nexus between Europe, Asia, Africa, and beyond.

According to Dubai Airports CEO Paul Griffiths, the airport is on a trajectory to handle approximately 96 million passengers by the end of 2025, with ambitions to surpass the 100 million milestone in 2026.

India topped the list of DXB’s country markets during H1, accounting for 5.9 million passengers, followed by Saudi Arabia (3.6 million), the UK (3.0 million), Pakistan (2.1 million), and the US (1.6 million). London was the busiest destination city, handling 1.8 million travelers, followed by Riyadh, Mumbai, Jeddah, New Delhi, and Istanbul.

Cargo throughput surpassed 1 million tonnes in H1 2025, growing 0.1 % year‑on‑year, reinforcing DXB’s role as a key logistics gateway in addition to passenger travel.

DXB’s strong mid‑year performance, achieved amid geopolitical headwinds, affirms its strategic importance to the UAE’s economy and global aviation landscape.
