Emirates Orders Eight More Airbus A350-900s in New $3.4B Deal at Dubai Airshow 2025
Emirates Commits to Fleet Expansion with $3.4 Billion Investment in Airbus A350s
Emirates, one of the world's leading international airlines, has made a significant move to solidify its long-term fleet strategy by announcing an order for eight additional Airbus A350-900 aircraft at the Dubai Airshow 2025.
This deal, valued at approximately $3.4 billion at list prices, underscores the airline's unwavering confidence in the future of global travel and its aggressive plans for capacity expansion. This top-up order increases Emirates' total commitment to the Airbus A350-900 to an impressive 73 aircraft, with thirteen already in active service.
The decision to expand the A350 fleet reflects the success of the aircraft since its entry into service in November of the previous year. According to Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and CEO of Emirates Airline and Group, the A350 has provided "welcome additional capacity" and enabled the introduction of the airline's latest inflight products, notably the popular Premium Economy seats, to more routes.
Powered exclusively by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-84 engines, these fuel-efficient, next-generation wide-body jets are expected to play a central role in the airline's product and capacity expansion over the coming decade, with the newly ordered units scheduled for delivery in 2031.
This order is part of a broader, massive investment by Emirates into modern wide-body aircraft. Coupled with an earlier order for 65 additional Boeing 777-9s announced during the airshow, the airline now boasts a formidable orderbook of 375 units of the latest wide-body aircraft across both Airbus and Boeing programmes.
This commitment, totaling $41.4 billion at the Dubai Airshow 2025 alone, signifies a substantial investment not only in Emirates' future but also in the global aviation industry, supporting tens of thousands of skilled roles across vast manufacturing supply chains that extend throughout Europe and beyond.
