Fire in Al Barsha Building Brought Under Control
Advanced drones assist Civil Defence as Al Barsha building fire brought under control without injuries
A major fire erupted around 2:00 PM on Tuesday in the Saleh Bin Lahej building, a 14-storey residential block in Al Barsha, Dubai, located just metres from the Mall of the Emirates. Witnesses saw smoke and flames rising from the upper floors, prompting a swift emergency response.
Dubai Civil Defence teams were on site within six minutes of receiving the emergency call. Evacuation of residents was carried out immediately, ensuring safety even before major firefighting operations began.
To help contain the blaze, authorities deployed ‘Shaheen’ drones — engineered specifically for high-rise emergencies up to 200 metres tall. These drones carry a 1,200-litre tank capable of dispensing water and firefighting foam, and were instrumental in the firefighting efforts.
By around 5:00 PM, Civil Defence declared the fire under control. Cooling operations were underway to prevent any rekindling, and authorities are preparing to hand over the site to relevant agencies once safety checks are complete.
Fortunately, no injuries have been reported. Residents were evacuated safely, and the prompt deployment and use of drones helped reduce both risk and potential property damage.
