A well-known Indian dentist in Abu Dhabi has been found dead in her apartment, sending shockwaves through the expat and healthcare communities.

Dr. Dhanalakshmi, 54, a dentist at Lifecare Hospital in Mussafah, was discovered lifeless in her residence after failing to show up for work on Monday. Friends who hadn’t heard from her in two days alerted the authorities.

“We just heard about the incident and we are deeply saddened by her death,” said Abdullah Kamampalam, a social worker with the Sharjah Indian Association. “We have not received any information regarding the cause of the death yet.”

Lifecare Hospital confirmed the news and paid tribute to her in a heartfelt statement, calling her “a valued member of our team and a constant source of positivity.” The hospital also described her as “a gifted writer, compelling orator, and a truly versatile individual.”

Originally from Talappu in Kannur, Dr. Dhanalakshmi was known not only for her dental expertise but also for her deep involvement in social work.

Community members remembered her as someone always ready to help — whether by volunteering for health awareness sessions or simply showing up for those in need.

The cause of death has not yet been disclosed. Authorities are investigating.
