Indian Passport Fees Changes Across the UAE
UAE-based Indians face higher passport fees from July 1, 2026 across all consular centres.
The Indian government has announced a significant increase in passport service fees for UAE-based applicants, with the new pricing structure set to take effect from July 1, 2026, according to confirmation from the Consulate General of India in Dubai.
The revised fees will apply uniformly across the Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi, the Consulate General of India in Dubai, and all Indian Consular Application Centres (ICACs) operated by the outsourced service provider throughout the UAE.
Ordinary Passport Fee Increases
Under the new structure, ordinary fresh or reissue applications for passports will face substantial hikes:
| Passport Type | Normal Processing | Tatkaal (Expedited) |
|---|---|---|
| 36-page | Dh450 (previously Dh285) | Dh900 |
| 60-page | Dh630 | Dh1,080 |
This represents a 60 per cent increase for the 36-page normal category from the previous Dh285 rate. Notably, these adjustments come 14 years after such a change was last made in 2012.
Lost or Damaged Document Charges
Applicants applying for passports due to loss or damage will face steeper charges:
- 36-page passport: Dh900 (normal), Dh1,350 (Tatkaal)
- 60-page passport: Dh1,080 (normal), Dh1,530 (Tatkaal)
Changes for Minor Applicants
Significant revisions also affect minors below 18 years of age:
| Category | Normal | Tatkaal |
|---|---|---|
| Fresh/reissue 36-page passport | Dh325 (almost 70% increase from Dh190) | Dh775 |
| Lost/damaged passport | Dh775 | Dh1,225 |
A 10 per cent discount has been introduced specifically for fresh passport applications for children up to age 8, bringing the normal fee to Dh295 and Tatkaal to Dh700. However, this discount does not apply to re-issue cases.
Miscellaneous Services Pricing
Other consular services have also seen adjusted rates:
| Service | New Fee | Previous Fee |
|---|---|---|
| Police Clearance Certificate | Dh145 | Dh95 |
| Surrender Certificate | Dh145 | Dh95 |
| Global Entry Program verification | Dh145 | Dh95 |
| Emergency Certificate | Dh60 | N/A |
| Certificate of Identity | Dh180 | N/A |
Neither Emergency Certificates nor Certificate of Identity documents are available under the Tatkaal scheme.
Validity Period Clarification
The new notification also clarifies that passports issued to applicants aged 18 and above will have a maximum validity of 10 years, while those for minors will be valid for five years or until the applicant turns 18, whichever comes first.
Additional Charges Note
The revised rates do not include service fees charged by the outsourced service provider or the Indian Community Welfare Fund (ICWF) levy, both of which will be added separately where applicable.
Timing Coincides With Provider Transition
The fee revision announcement coincides with another major development: the new outsourced provider for Indian consular services comes into effect on July 1. As previously announced, Alhind Tours and Travels LLC will become the sole provider for passport, visa, and consular applications across the UAE, replacing BLS International Services Ltd. and SGIVS Global.
The Indian government stated that the fee revision is part of a broader initiative to standardise passport service charges across Indian missions worldwide.
UAE-based Indian nationals planning passport-related applications are advised to review the updated fee structure before submitting their requests, particularly given that more than 3.5 million Indian expatriates reside in the UAE and will be affected by these changes.
