Emirates Road crash kills seven workers after minibus hits stalled truck.

The identities and nationalities of the victims involved in a fatal minibus collision on Emirates Road have been confirmed by the employer of those killed. The crash, which occurred midday on Sunday near the Dubai-Sharjah border, claimed the lives of seven workers, comprising six Indian nationals and one from Sri Lanka.

The victims were all employees of a technical services firm traveling back to their accommodation in Sharjah after completing a shift at a construction site in Dubai. The minibus, which was carrying 17 people including the driver, struck a truck that had stalled in the middle of the roadway due to a mechanical failure. Authorities noted that the severity of the impact left some victims with injuries that have complicated the formal identification process, as several bodies were disfigured beyond easy recognition.

According to reports, the passengers seated on the right side of the vehicle bore the brunt of the collision, resulting in fatalities for those individuals. Of the nine others injured in the crash, five have already been discharged from the hospital. Four patients remain under medical care, consisting of three Indian nationals and one citizen of Nepal.

Preliminary investigations by Dubai Police indicate that the driver of the minibus failed to maintain a safe distance from the stationary truck, leading to the rear-end collision. The force of the impact caused significant damage to both vehicles.

In light of the incident, police officials have reiterated warnings regarding the dangers of leaving disabled vehicles on major roads without proper safety measures. Motorists are reminded that stopping on the road due to breakdowns or fuel issues carries a fine of Dh1,000 and the addition of six traffic points under the Federal Traffic Law.

As the investigation continues, the employing company has coordinated closely with local authorities and the consulates of the affected nations to assist the families. The Indian Consulate in Dubai confirmed that its officials had visited the hospital to meet with injured nationals and provide support to the bereaved. The company has pledged full cooperation with police and medical teams while reaching out to the families of both the deceased and the injured to offer assistance during this difficult period.
