The launch comes at a time when new research highlights the continued challenges many mothers face during their breastfeeding journey, with nearly half of mums experiencing difficulties that often lead them to stop earlier than planned.

The research reveals that 90% of mums who stopped breastfeeding within the first six weeks did so reluctantly, feeling compelled to stop due to challenges such as latching difficulties, low milk supply, and uncertainty around milk flow. Concerns about milk production remain the leading reason mums stop breastfeeding earlier than planned (28%), while uncertainty around milk flow is particularly common among younger mothers.

Despite growing awareness around breastfeeding benefits, global rates remain below recommended levels. Findings show that only 15% of mums continue breastfeeding for the first year, while the World Health Organization aims to increase exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months to at least 50% by 2025.

As part of its UAE launch, Munchkin introduces the Flow Nipple Shield +, an innovative breastfeeding support solution designed to give mums real-time visual reassurance. Featuring a discreet, see-through channel that allows mothers to see milk flow while feeding, the Flow Nipple Shield + helps address one of the most common causes of breastfeeding doubt. Made from soft, ultra-thin silicone, it is designed to feel natural, support effective latching, and encourage mums to continue breastfeeding with confidence.

The research also highlights the importance of accessible support, with one in five mums unable to overcome the challenges they faced. In response, Munchkin is extending its commitment beyond products by offering online access to a qualified midwife, providing personalised guidance during key hours, alongside AI-powered support outside those times to ensure continuous assistance for mums.

Diana Griffiths, Senior Director, Marketing EMEA, from Munchkin said, “This innovative product comes in response to findings that over 98% of breastfeeding mums have sought out and tried products to assist their journey, with popular options including breast pumps, support pillows, and nipple shields. By offering a product that directly addresses the issues of milk flow, latching, and confidence, we hope to empower mums to overcome the hurdles of breastfeeding and create a positive and fulfilling experience for themselves and their babies.”

UK Registered Midwife and Breastfeeding Supporter Marley Henry added:
“Breastfeeding challenges such as latch difficulties, discomfort, and doubts around milk production are incredibly common. The Flow Nipple Shield + offers both practical and emotional reassurance by allowing mums to visually confirm milk flow, helping them feel more confident and supported as they continue breastfeeding.”

The emotional impact of breastfeeding challenges extends to families, with research showing that almost a third of partners feel concerned, while many report feeling overwhelmed or unsure how to provide adequate support. As a result, many turn to breastfeeding products to help navigate the journey together.

The Flow Nipple Shield + Starter Kit (including the shield, cleaning syringe, and travel case) is now available in the UAE, alongside Munchkin’s wider breastfeeding collection. The range includes the Silicone Breast Pump, Silicone Breast Milk Collector Cup, and Warm Touch Lactation Massager, all designed with clean, safe materials and ease of use in mind.

With its launch in the UAE, Munchkin aims to support parents with thoughtfully designed products that combine innovation, reassurance, and care—helping families navigate early parenthood with greater confidence.
