Hollywood’s elite from the Dune trilogy land in Abu Dhabi to mentor the next generation of filmmakers

The creative powerhouses behind the critically acclaimed Dune: Part Two and the upcoming Dune: Part Three are set to host a series of masterclasses in Abu Dhabi this November.

The initiative is spearheaded by the Creative Media Authority (CMA) and will take place on 1 and 2 November at Sandstorm Studio in the Yas Creative Hub, in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Film Commission.

Among the key figures leading the sessions are Oscar-winning production designer Patrice Vermette, along with executives from Legendary Entertainment: Herb Gains (EVP of physical production) and Sam Kozhaya (EVP of operations and corporate development). These masterclasses will delve into the many facets of big-budget film production, from set design and physical production logistics to film financing and budgeting strategies.

Each full-day session begins at 10 a.m. and accommodates up to 100 participants. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage directly with top-tier industry professionals and gain rare behind-the-scenes perspectives on how the Dune franchise was brought to screen. Topics include “how large-scale films are green-lit,” and the interplay between creative vision and operational execution on epic productions.

Registration for the masterclasses is now open through the CMA website, offering aspiring filmmakers, producers, and creatives the chance to learn from top-tier talent in a region rapidly emerging as a cine-capital. Whether you’re interested in production design, logistics, or financing big-ticket films, this event promises rare direct access to the minds behind one of Hollywood’s most visually striking franchises.
