For centuries, astronomers have had the question of what is present at the very edges and limits of the universe, at extents where space seems to get too hard to be observed with any sort of telescope. However, recently the study of the boundary of the observable universe has provided some surprising insights into cosmic expansion, light from the early universe and the structure of space-time, which are still very difficult to account for in the existing theories of the universe, and are enriching our understanding of the universe on the largest scales. The finding changes the modern cosmological paradigm and prompts questions of what is currently (and may be) laying beyond the visible, cosmic horizonhead for future explorations.
