Under the new directive, commercial establishments such as stores and shops must apply for official permission if they intend to continue operations after midnight throughout Ramadan. The aim is to regulate late-night activities and ensure compliance with local guidelines during the fasting month.

Permits can be applied for online through the municipality’s official website at www.shjmun.gov.ae, streamlining the approval process for eligible businesses.

However, the municipality has clarified that engineering contractors are not eligible to obtain these Ramadan working permits to operate after midnight, meaning construction and similar contracting work will still need to adhere to standard hours.

This move comes as part of broader preparations for Ramadan, with local authorities also making other work-hours adjustments for the holy month.

Businesses seeking to benefit from extended hours during Ramadan should ensure timely submission of permit applications and compliance with all relevant regulations to avoid disruption to their operations.
