The New York University Abu Dhabi's (NYUAD) Arts Center will host various performances at the event Hekayah (The Story) for the UAE National Day on Nov. 27 at the Black Box from 7:30 p.m.

The performers will reflect through various forms of art on the concept of home in different contexts. 

Musical Performances

The pan-Arab Basma Choir will perform at the event. 

Other musicians performing at the event will include the pop music duo WYWY from the Philippines and oud musician Jad Al Kareem Tatou from Syria.

Poetic and Other Performances

The Pulitzer Prize-winning US poet and NYUAD faculty member Gregory Pardlo will also perform at the event.

Other than Pardlo, Iraqi-Canadian artist Rand Abdul Jabbar, Kuwaiti oral historian Rasha Alduwaisan, Lebanese writer Rawad Raidan, and Emirati artist Shahad Alsaqqaf will also participate in the event. 

The evening will also include performances from Emirati writer Salha Obaid Hassan, Palestinian writer Samar Abdel Jaber, and Syrian composer Ali Zain.

What is Hekayah?

Hekayah (the Story) was the first annual event launched by NYUAD's Arts Centre when it was founded. 

Hekayah invites UAE residents from various backgrounds to share their artistic perspectives on the occasion of the UAE National Day.
