The UAE is officially one of the world’s top money players. State-owned investors in the country now manage Dh10.75 trillion ($2.93 trillion), placing the UAE 4th globally, according to the 2026 Global SWF Annual Report.

Who’s Leading the Pack in the UAE?

The country’s biggest state-owned funds are racking up serious numbers:

  • Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA): $1.18 trillion

  • Investment Corporation of Dubai (ICD): $429 billion

  • Mubadala: $358 billion

  • ADQ: $251 billion

  • Emirates Investment Authority: $116 billion

  • Dubai Investment Fund: $80 billion

  • Dubai Holding: $72 billion

ADIA alone makes Abu Dhabi a global capital of capital — the city was named the richest in the world in 2024 with $1.7 trillion in managed assets.

UAE Keeps Attracting More Funds

The UAE isn’t just sitting on cash; it’s also pulling in billions from abroad. In 2025, the country received $9.9 billion in sovereign funds, up from $7.9 billion in 2024.

For context, the US topped the list with $131.8 billion, followed by the UK, Germany, and Canada.

Global Context: SOIs Are Getting Bigger

State-owned investors worldwide are booming. By December 2025, sovereign wealth funds hit $15 trillion for the first time. Combined with public pension funds and central banks, global SOIs now manage $60 trillion — projected to reach $80 trillion by 2030.

Asia holds the largest slice (over a third), followed by North America (26%), Europe (19%), and MENA (15%). Experts expect Asia and MENA to grow faster than Europe and North America in the coming years.

The Bottom Line

The UAE has firmly cemented itself among the world’s financial heavyweights, with massive assets under management, growing foreign investments, and a seat at the global capital table.
