UAE's West-East Pipeline Expansion to Become Operational on This Date
The UAE is set to complete the expansion of the West-East crude oil pipeline by 2027, doubling its export capacity through Fujairah, the emirate’s Media Office announced on Friday.
The project, reviewed by Adnoc’s Executive Committee led by Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, reinforces the UAE’s position as a global energy leader while reducing reliance on the Strait of Hormuz.
The Habshan–Fujairah pipeline, operational since 2012, spans over 360km and currently transports 1.5 million barrels of crude oil per day. The expansion aligns with Adnoc’s strategy to boost production capacity to five million barrels per day by 2027 and strengthen Fujairah’s role as a key oil hub.
By bypassing the Strait of Hormuz, the pipeline ensures uninterrupted exports amid regional tensions. Adnoc’s continued investments in Fujairah’s infrastructure have further solidified its importance in global energy supply chains.
With the UAE’s recent exit from OPEC, the expansion provides greater flexibility in production planning, reinforcing the country’s long-term energy ambitions.
