Linda Yaccarino, a former advertising chief in charge at NBCUniversal, has been appointed CEO of Twitter on Friday, as announced by Elon Musk on the Twitter platform.

As CEO, Yaccarino will deal with a long list of difficulties that accumulated while Musk owned the company, including an exodus of advertisers, service problems, regulatory scrutiny, and an expanding number of competitors.

Even after stepping down as CEO, Musk is expected to retain a sizable amount of influence over the business's future trajectory. Musk earlier declared that he will hold the positions of executive chairman, chief technology officer, and platform owner.

After the majority of Twitter users chose him to resign in a poll in December, Musk had already committed to stepping down from his position as the company's CEO.

More about Linda Yaccarino

Yaccarino has worked at NBCUniversal for more than 11 years; she began out there as a college intern. She had previously served as Turner Broadcasting's executive vice president and chief operating officer (COO) for advertising sales, marketing, and acquisitions, which at the time included CNN.

According to her business page, she was in charge of NBCUniversal's 2,000-person international workforce. The ad sales team has built connections with several new media businesses, including Twitter as well as Apple News, Buzzfeed, Snapchat, and YouTube, and has produced $100 billion in ad sales since she arrived in 2011.

Yaccarino's resignation from the corporation was announced by NBCUniversal earlier on Friday. In a statement, Yaccarino stated, “It has been an absolute honor to be part of Comcast NBCUniversal and lead the most incredible team. We’ve transformed our company and the entire industry, and I am so proud of what we’ve accomplished together.”
