Dental care is no longer a luxury, but rather an essential thing that cannot be ignored, and with the development of cosmetic medicine, people have many options to improve their dental appearance which contributes to the overall look. These options include cosmetic fillings or what’s commonly known as facings and porcelain veneers, so what is the difference between them?

Facings

These aesthetic fillings are manufactured in the dentist's office and require only one session to be manufactured and glued to give that beautiful and attractive finish.

  • Lower price

  • Easy to repair

Cons

  • Needs regular polishing

  • Lasts less (3 years - 5 years)

Porcelain Veneers

These veneers are made of an ultra-thin material that gives a natural look and consistent shape to the gums. They are manufactured in the laboratory and usually require two sessions to obtain the final appearance, the first is to file the teeth, take the size and send it to the laboratory, while the second is to glue the porcelain veneers on the teeth.

Pros

  • Long-lasting (10 years - 15 years)

  • No discoloration

  • Gives a natural look

Cons

  • High cost

  • Needs more teeth filing
