A devastating collision between a minibus and a stationary truck on Dubai's Emirates Road has claimed the lives of seven people and left nine others injured.

According to an official statement from Dubai Police, the fatal crash occurred after the minibus rammed into the rear of a truck that had come to a sudden halt in the middle of the road due to a technical fault.

Preliminary investigations conducted by authorities indicate that the bus driver failed to maintain a safe following distance or pay sufficient attention to the vehicle ahead, leading to the high-speed impact.

Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, confirmed the grim toll. "The Command and Control Centre received a report about the accident, following which traffic patrols and rescue teams were dispatched to the scene," Brigadier Bin Suwaidan said.

He detailed the severity of the incident: "The accident resulted in seven fatalities and nine injuries, including five serious and four moderate injuries. All injured were transported to hospital for treatment."

The five individuals sustaining serious injuries received immediate medical attention before being airlifted or driven to nearby hospitals for critical care.
