For years Nvidia has had the AI data centre market more or less to itself, holding well over 90% share and setting the pace with its rack-scale systems. That comfortable position just got its first real challenge in a long while. At AMD's sold-out Advancing AI conference in San Francisco on 23 July, CEO Lisa Su unveiled Helios, the company's first full rack-scale AI system, with a customer list that already includes Microsoft, Meta and OpenAI.
