Dubai Police have launched a major water safety campaign, seizing 32 jet skis during a surprise inspection at Fishing Harbour 3. The crackdown, led by the Ports Police Station, is part of a broader effort to enforce maritime safety and ensure jet ski rental companies are complying with legal and safety standards.
Many of the seized jet skis were found to be severely damaged, previously involved in accidents, or simply unsafe for public use. In addition, police handed out 39 violations for various safety and operational breaches, including failure to follow designated routes.

Serious Safety Concerns
Brigadier Dr. Hassan Suhail Al Suwaidi, Director of the Ports Police Station, said the inspections are part of an ongoing initiative to create a safe environment along Dubai’s waters.
“Several administrative violations were uncovered, including poor documentation, vague rental procedures, and a complete lack of compliance with safety rules,” he explained. “We are committed to safeguarding our coastal waters and the public who enjoy them. Strict enforcement and accountability are key to achieving that goal.”
Hefty Fines for Non-Compliance
Brigadier Al Suwaidi also outlined the tough penalties companies could face:
- AED 5,000 for using unlicensed watercraft or operating without proper authorisation
- AED 1,000 for operating vessels with expired licenses
- AED 5,000 for renting out unfit equipment or obstructing inspections
Companies that fail to meet the city’s strict marine regulations can expect legal action, with reports already being sent to the relevant licensing authorities.
