Dubai just made another futuristic headline — Chinese flying car maker Aridge (formerly Xpeng Aeroht) completed its first manned flight in the Middle East. And here’s the kicker: the company already has 600 confirmed orders from major GCC groups.

Aridge’s creation looks like something out of a sci-fi movie — a modular flying car where a ground vehicle carries a detachable two-person eVTOL aircraft in its “trunk.” Think of it as an electric SUV with a mini helicopter packed in the back, ready to take off whenever traffic gets too much.

Middle East Orders Are Sky-High

Big regional players like Ali & Sons (UAE), Almana Group (Qatar), AlSayer Group (Kuwait), and the Chinese Business Council in the UAE have already placed bulk orders. Together, they’ve locked in the largest flying car purchase outside China so far.

Consumer sales are expected to start by 2027, and Aridge says the Middle East is their top pick for expansion thanks to the region’s love for innovation (and, let’s be honest, a good flex).

Built for Real People, Not Just Sci-Fi Fans

The flying car’s design is all about making air travel simple. It has automatic and manual flight modes, and even beginners can plan a route, take off, and land with just one tap. For thrill seekers, there’s a manual joystick mode that handles six commands in one stick — one-handed flying, anyone?

Safety-wise, Aridge went all in: it’s got redundant power and flight systems, plus automatic recovery features if anything goes wrong mid-air.

What’s Next for Aridge?

The company has a mass-production factory in Guangzhou capable of producing 10,000 flying cars per year, with deliveries kicking off in 2026. They’ve filed nearly 1,000 patents, developed seven generations of flying vehicles, and even received flight permits from the UAE’s aviation authority.

And they’re not stopping there. Aridge is working on the A868, a larger, faster six-seater flying car that can reach 360 km/h and travel over 500 km — perfect for business trips or emergency services.
