Andy Murray has withdrawn from the Dubai Duty-Free Tennis Championships after reaching the Qatar Open final and playing a number of lengthy matches.

Despite losing to Daniil Medvedev in the Qatar Open final, it is believed that there are no significant physical problems, and the decision not to play in Dubai is simply a precautionary measure. Although the tournament cited a hip injury, this has raised concerns given Murray's previous struggles with the joint.

According to a statement from the tournament, it stated: 'We regret to inform you that Andy Murray is unable to participate in this year's tournament.

'Andy has been dealing with a recurring hip injury that has unfortunately forced him out of Dubai. We wish Andy a speedy recovery and hope to see him back on the court in Dubai soon.'

Murray won against Alexander Zverev and Jiri Lehecka in Doha before losing 6-4 6-4 to Medvedev in the final. Despite the loss, Murray's good performance in the Australian Open and in Doha earned him a rise of 18 places in the rankings, bringing him close to the top 50. He is set to play in the Indian Wells Masters 1000 tournament, which starts on March 8.
