Bryan Adam's Photography Exhibition Opens in Dubai
Canadian Music Icon Showcases “#SHOTBYADAMS” at JD Malat Gallery
Legendary Canadian singer-songwriter Bryan Adams, celebrated worldwide for hits like Summer of ’69, is stepping into the Middle Eastern art scene with his first-ever photography exhibition in the region.
Titled “#SHOTBYADAMS,” the showcase is now open at Dubai’s JD Malat Gallery and will run until September 30.
While Adams is globally known for his music, he has also built a distinguished career in photography. His work has appeared in i-D, Harper’s Bazaar, and Vogue, and he has photographed high-profile subjects including Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, whose portrait now resides in London’s National Portrait Gallery.
The artist has previously exhibited at the Saatchi Gallery in London, Fotografiska in Stockholm, and the Royal Ontario Museum in Canada.
For this Dubai exhibition, Adams has experimented with multi-colored plexiglass, inspired by the phrase “seeing things through rose-tinted glasses.” By layering tinted plexiglass over his most celebrated portraits, he reframes the viewer’s perception of iconic figures such as Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Mick Jagger, and the late Amy Winehouse.
Adams explained the artistic vision behind the collection, saying: “The plexiglass acts like a visual metaphor—refracting not just the subject, but our assumptions. It’s about perception, distortion, and the beauty of seeing differently.”
In addition to his career as a musician and photographer, Adams is also the co-founder of Zoo Magazine, a Berlin-based art and fashion journal. His photography has earned him accolades, including the German Lead Award in 2006 and 2012, further cementing his reputation as a multi-talented creative force.
With “#SHOTBYADAMS,” Bryan Adams introduces Middle Eastern audiences to his unique blend of celebrity portraiture and experimental artistry, offering a fresh perspective that blurs the boundaries between music, culture, and visual art.
