Dubai Cracks Down on Hidden Food Delivery Fees

Ordering food in Dubai just got more transparent. The Dubai Corporation for Consumer Protection and Fair Trade (DCCPFT) has rolled out fresh guidelines for delivery apps—no more sneaky service fees or vague “convenience” charges popping up at checkout.

Clear Costs Only

Platforms now have to spell everything out: food price, delivery charges (even if they change by location), service fees, and taxes. All this must be shown clearly before you hit “order.” No tricks, no after-payment add-ons.

Plain and Simple Language

Apps can’t bury details in fine print or use confusing words. Disclosures must be easy to spot, whether you’re on the website, iOS, or Android. Basically, if it affects your choice, you should see it straight away.

No Misleading “Exclusives”

If something’s marked “exclusive,” it actually has to be exclusive. Discounts and deals need to be the real deal—not marketing fluff.

Subscription Models in Check

Food apps with subscription plans can’t secretly pass on extra costs to restaurants through hidden commissions or bundled charges.

Why It Matters

Dubai wants fair play for both customers and businesses. With food delivery booming, these rules aim to keep the industry clean, trustworthy, and attractive for future growth.
