Dubai announced that Eid al-Adha sacrifices can now be made by smartphone app.

The app accepts donations from users for both a whole sacrificial sheep or a quarter. The price of requesting a whole sheep costs Dh780, while outside the UAE it will cost Dh350.

On the Dubai Now app, you can use the Eid Sacrifice (Udhiyah) service safely while COVID-19 measures are ensured.

“This eliminates the need for them to physically visit charity centres, thereby maintaining safety and security through social distancing,” said Wesam Lootah, chief executive of Smart Dubai.

The meat of the sacrifice is traditionally shared between the family, friends and the underprivileged.

UAE announced a six-day holiday for Eid al-Adha and Arafat Day which starts on  Monday, July 19.

The government announced the COVID-19 Eid al-Adha protocols that need to be followed.
