Dubai is making bold moves to create more sustainable and livable neighborhoods with its recently announced Super Block initiative. Revealed on Thursday, this project aims to transform residential areas into car-free zones, promoting greener and healthier living environments.
Car-Free Zones to Foster Community Living
The Super Block initiative focuses on neighborhoods such as Al Fahidi, Abu Hail, Al Karama, and Al Quoz Creative Zone. These areas will prioritize pedestrians and cyclists, increase green spaces, and create public areas for recreation and social gatherings. The goal is to improve residents' quality of life by making neighborhoods more community-oriented and environmentally friendly.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, announced the initiative on X (formerly known as Twitter). The project aligns with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, which aims to promote sustainable urban development and upgrade infrastructure for a greener future.

Dubai's Ambitious Quality of Life Vision
The Super Block initiative is part of Dubai's broader efforts to enhance the city's livability and well-being. Recently, the city revealed plans for the world's tallest well-being resort, 'Therme Dubai,' which will be built at Zabeel Park. Set to open in 2028, the project will feature an interactive park and the world's largest indoor botanical garden. With an investment of Dh2 billion, the new landmark is expected to attract 1.7 million visitors annually.
