Etihad Rail Launches 7 More Stations for its Passenger Service
Phase rollout expands UAE’s first integrated passenger railway linking 11 cities and regions.
Etihad Rail has announced the addition of seven new passenger stations ahead of the launch of its national passenger rail service later this year, marking a major milestone for the UAE’s transportation infrastructure.
The newly revealed stations, Al Sila’, Al Dhannah, Al Mirfa, Madinat Zayed, Mezairaa, Al Faya and Al Dhaid, are expected to become operational in phases as part of the expanding passenger network, the company said on Thursday. These are in addition to earlier announced stations in Mohammed bin Zayed City in Abu Dhabi, Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai, University City in Sharjah and Al Hilal in Fujairah.
Building a National Passenger Network
Once fully operational, Etihad Rail will connect 11 cities and regions across all seven emirates, establishing the country’s first fully integrated national railway system. The expanded network is designed to enhance mobility, shorten travel times, and support economic and social cohesion across the UAE.
Officials confirmed that 10 of the 13 trains in the passenger fleet have already arrived in the UAE and undergone extensive testing, meeting “the highest international safety and quality standards.”
Enhancing Connectivity and Travel
Etihad Rail’s passenger service is expected to revolutionise travel across the Emirates by offering safe, reliable, and efficient rail transport between major urban centres and regional hubs. Trains will be capable of carrying up to 400 passengers per service and feature modern amenities to ensure comfort and convenience.
The phased rollout of stations is intended to align with broader goals of sustainable mobility and reduced reliance on road travel, while also boosting tourism and economic activity along the route.
As the UAE prepares for the national launch of passenger rail later this year, residents, commuters and visitors alike can look forward to a transformative new way to travel across the Emirates.
