In recognition of his remarkable achievement at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Manila City is taking steps to celebrate gymnast Carlos Yulo. The city council is preparing to declare August 4 as Carlos Yulo Day, following his double gold medal win.

Resolution in the Works

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna announced on Wednesday that the city council will introduce a resolution on August 15 to establish this date as a working holiday. This move is in honor of Yulo’s consecutive triumphs in the Olympic arena.

Rewards and Recognition

Beyond the holiday, Yulo’s accomplishments have garnered significant rewards. The Philippine Sports Commission will present him with ₱10 million, in accordance with Republic Act 10699, which stipulates benefits and incentives for national athletes and coaches.

Additionally, Yulo will receive ₱6 million from the House of Representatives and a luxurious, fully furnished three-bedroom condominium in McKinley Hill, valued at ₱24 million, courtesy of Megaworld. Various private companies have also committed to providing him with free lifetime food, supplies, and services, ensuring that his dedication and hard work are celebrated both in spirit and in substantial rewards.
