Missile Intercepted Near Key Economic Zone in Abu Dhabi
UAE Air Defense Systems Neutralize Incoming Threats Near KEZAD.
Authorities in the United Arab Emirates confirmed early Thursday morning that air defense systems successfully intercepted a missile targeting the vicinity of the Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi (KEZAD), a major logistics and industrial hub.

According to a statement released by the Abu Dhabi Media Office, the interception resulted in minor damage to the surrounding area, but officials emphasized that no injuries were reported among workers or residents in the immediate zone. The incident occurred shortly after 4:30 AM local time, a period when loud explosions were reported across several emirates.
The UAE Ministry of Defence stated that the air defense network was activated in response to coordinated incoming threats involving both missiles and drones. In a subsequent briefing, the Ministry confirmed that the sonic booms heard across the country were the direct result of successful interceptions of these hostile assets.
"The noise heard in various locations was caused by our air defense systems engaging and neutralizing incoming threats," the Ministry said. "Our primary objective remains the protection of critical infrastructure and the safety of all residents."

Prior to the successful interception in Abu Dhabi, the Ministry issued an emergency alert urging residents to seek immediate shelter following warnings of a potential missile threat. This alert came amid heightened regional tensions and a surge in aerial activity.
While the situation in Abu Dhabi was contained without casualties, the broader security environment remains volatile. On Wednesday, April 1, a separate incident involving drone activity resulted in a fatality in the eastern emirate of Fujairah. Shrapnel from a drone interception in the Al Riffa area claimed the life of a Bangladeshi national.
In light of these events, UAE authorities have strongly urged the public to rely exclusively on official government channels for updates. Officials warned against the spread of rumors or unverified information on social media, which could cause unnecessary panic or confusion during ongoing security operations.
