Heading to Mall of the Emirates just got smoother. Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced a new 300-metre single-lane bridge on Sheikh Zayed Road that slashes travel time from 10 minutes to just 1 minute. The bridge can handle up to 900 vehicles per hour, easing access for motorists coming from Abu Dhabi and Jebel Ali.

What’s New Around the Mall

Built with Majid Al Futtaim Properties, the project didn’t stop at the bridge. RTA also upgraded nearby roads, intersections, pedestrian paths, and cycling tracks, plus expanded the mall’s entrances to keep traffic flowing.

The road beside Kempinski Hotel has been turned into two-way traffic, making it easier to loop around the area without getting stuck in bottlenecks.

What’s Next for Umm Suqeim

The upgrades don’t end there. RTA is rolling out the Umm Suqeim Street Improvement Project, covering 6 km from Jumeirah Street to Al Khail Road. Expect four new bridges, two tunnels, and upgraded junctions to make major city routes even faster.

Once complete, the road will have four lanes in each direction, easing congestion and linking key areas like Al Quoz, Sheikh Zayed Road, and Deira more efficiently.
