Sharjah is officially recognizing the work of its mosque leaders. Imams and muezzins across the emirate will now enjoy full government employee status, thanks to a directive from His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi.

Benefits for Mosque Leaders

Under the new system, imams and muezzins will receive promotions, allowances, health insurance, and a work-nature allowance of AED 3,000.

Additionally, those who choose not to use their accumulated leave will receive a cash equivalent instead, ensuring their time off is still valued.

Recognizing Their Role

The move highlights the vital role imams and muezzins play in mosques and in the broader community. The initiative is coordinated with the Department of Islamic Affairs to make the transition seamless.

What This Means

For Sharjah’s religious leaders, this change provides job security, financial perks, and recognition, aligning their status with other government staff and acknowledging their contribution to society.
