Being a father is the biggest thing I’ve ever done. It feels like the only thing I’ve ever done. It never ends. And it’s the heaviest thing, the most rewarding—a work in progress and a job, especially now, that gives no breaks. My father used to say that he was a better man than his father, and that I’m a better man than him. He meant it in the best possible way, I think.
