Two New Bridges Just Turned a 10-Minute Trade Centre Drive into a 2-Minute Hop
Dubai’s Trade Centre Roundabout upgrade is officially delivering — and commuters are already feeling the difference.
Getting around the Trade Centre area just got a whole lot easier. Two new bridges under Dubai’s Trade Centre Roundabout Development Project have opened, cutting travel time from 10 minutes down to just two. Yes, really.
If you drive this route often, this is the kind of update that actually changes your day.
What’s Now Open
The newly opened bridges serve traffic coming from 2nd December Street towards Sheikh Rashid Road and Al Majlis Street. Each bridge has two lanes in both directions, designed to keep cars moving instead of piling up.
Together, they stretch about 2,000 metres and can handle up to 6,000 vehicles per hour — a big win for one of the city’s busiest zones.
Faster Drives, Less Waiting
Thanks to the new setup, trips from 2nd December Street to Al Majlis Street, Al Mustaqbal Street, and Zabeel Palace Street now take just two minutes instead of ten.
That’s fewer red lights, fewer delays, and a much smoother ride through the area.
Part of a Bigger Traffic Fix
These bridges are just the first phase of the Trade Centre Roundabout Development Project, a major RTA initiative aimed at fixing congestion where Sheikh Zayed Road meets several key streets.
The full project includes five bridges in total and upgrades to the existing roundabout, all part of a Dhs696 million plan to improve traffic flow across Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street, Sheikh Rashid Road, 2nd December Street, Zabeel Palace Street, and Al Majlis Street.
What’s Coming Next
According to RTA Director General Mattar Al Tayer, the project is moving faster than planned. A third bridge linking Sheikh Zayed Road to Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street is expected to open in March, with two more bridges scheduled for October 2026.
Once everything is complete, average delays at the intersection will drop from 12 minutes to just 90 seconds. Even better, trips from Sheikh Zayed Road to Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street will take just one minute instead of six.
More Upgrades Ahead
The improvements don’t stop at bridges. The wider plan also includes major upgrades to Al Mustaqbal Street, including new tunnels, a 400-metre bridge, and wider lanes in both directions — all designed to keep traffic flowing in this fast-growing part of the city.
