Big news for road-trippers! The UAE has kicked off a Dh750 million revamp of Emirates Road that’s going to make life so much easier for those driving between Ras Al Khaimah and Dubai.
Faster Travel
Once the upgrade is done, travel time will drop by up to 45%. That means less time stuck in traffic and more time actually enjoying where you’re headed.
What’s Being Built
The project stretches across 25km, bumping up the lanes from three to five in each direction. That means the road can now handle about 9,000 vehicles per hour—a 65% increase in capacity. Oh, and let’s not forget the six new directional bridges spanning 12.6km, plus fresh service roads on the side.
Why It Matters
This isn’t just about speed. The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure says the project will ease congestion, cut emissions from traffic jams, and even boost trade and the flow of goods across the Emirates. Basically, smoother roads, cleaner air, and faster commutes.
