Astronomical forecasts suggest that Eid Al Fitr 2026 in the UAE will likely occur on Friday, March 20, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan, according to Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Emirates Astronomical Society.

Al Jarwan noted that the crescent for Ramadan 1447 AH is expected to form on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, though visibility on that evening may be difficult. Based on calculations, Ramadan is projected to begin on Thursday, February 19, and extend for 30 days.

If the holy month completes a full 30 days—as astronomical projections currently indicate—the UAE’s official holiday calendar shows that Day 30 will be added to the Eid break, giving residents a four-day weekend from Thursday, March 19, to Sunday, March 22, with work resuming Monday.

Eid Al Fitr is one of the most important Islamic celebrations, beginning with early morning prayers and followed by family visits, charitable giving, and festive community activities across the country.

While predictions point to March 20, 2026 as the first day of Shawwal, the final confirmation will come from the UAE Moon-Sighting Committee closer to the date.
