Almost seven out of ten consumers can spot package downsizing across the main categories. Rather than imposing outright price hikes, the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) market prefers to sneak in price increases by gradually reducing package sizes, sheet quantities and weight in an effort to protect profit margins against climbing manufacturing costs. Research into the global market conducted by YouGov alongside financial analysis by LendingTree revealed the following.
