Dubai Emirates Road Crash: AED1M Relief Package Provided for Victims' Families

Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil, Chairman and CEO of Burjeel Holdings and an Abu Dhabi-based entrepreneur, has announced a comprehensive humanitarian relief package worth AED 1 million to support the families affected by the fatal minibus crash on Dubai's Emirates Road. The initiative aims to assist both the grieving families of the deceased and the survivors who sustained injuries in the tragedy.

The financial aid plan allocates AED 100,000 to each of the seven families who lost loved ones in the accident. For the nine injured survivors, a total of AED 180,000 has been designated to cover medical expenses and recovery needs based on individual circumstances. Additionally, the program includes AED 70,000 to facilitate emergency travel and accommodation for family members traveling to the region, as well as AED 50,000 earmarked to support the education of children from the affected households.

The victims were employees of a technical services company who were returning to their accommodation in Sharjah after work when their minibus collided with a stalled truck. Reports confirm that the seven deceased included six Indian nationals—three from Uttar Pradesh and three from Telangana—and one Sri Lankan national. Among the nine injured, eight are Indian citizens, including two from Kerala, while one is a Nepalese national. While five of the injured have since been discharged, three Indians and the Nepalese citizen remain under medical care across various hospitals.

Burjeel Holdings has coordinated directly with the Indian Consulate in Dubai to ensure the swift delivery of assistance to the relevant families and injured individuals. The Consulate had previously engaged with hospital officials to meet with the injured and collaborate with local authorities on support measures.

In a statement regarding the initiative, Dr. Vayalil emphasized that the support extends to all those impacted by the incident, regardless of nationality, highlighting a commitment to shared humanity. He described the event as a heartbreaking reminder of the sacrifices made by migrant workers who leave their families behind to secure a better future for their loved ones. Acknowledging that no amount of financial aid can replace the lives lost, he expressed hope that this assistance would provide tangible relief to the grieving families and aid the injured in their path to recovery, reaffirming solidarity with every affected family during this difficult period.
