Dubai is stepping up its parking enforcement with the installation of over 500 AI-powered cameras in key areas such as Trade Centre 1, Burj Khalifa, and Al Corniche. This initiative, led by Parkin, the emirate’s public parking operator, aims to enhance parking management, improve space availability, and streamline payment processes.
High-Tech Parking Management
The first phase of this high-tech rollout includes curb and pole cameras equipped with automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) technology. These cameras can capture vehicle images and read license plates in real time, enabling automatic payments through the Parkin App and its integrated Parkin Wallet.
A further 200 cameras will be deployed across Dubai in the coming months, expanding the system’s coverage. Notably, the cameras are solar-powered, supporting Dubai’s sustainability goals while providing real-time tracking of parking occupancy. This will help reduce congestion by improving parking space turnover and availability.
Seamless User Experience
Mohamed Abdulla Al Ali, CEO of Parkin, emphasized that adopting smart technologies is key to transforming Dubai’s parking landscape. The integrated system allows drivers to pay automatically, eliminating the hassle of manual payments and reducing violations.
Collaboration with Major Malls
In a significant partnership, Parkin is working with Emaar to implement AI-powered enforcement in three of Dubai’s largest malls: Dubai Mall, Dubai Hills Mall, and Marina Mall. The system specifically targets the misuse of parking spaces reserved for people with disabilities.

When a vehicle parks in a designated accessible spot, Parkin’s AI system scans the license plate to verify the presence of a valid permit. If no valid permit is detected, the system flags the violation to a Parkin inspector for enforcement action.
A Smarter, More Efficient Dubai
This rollout is part of Dubai’s broader vision to leverage advanced smart technologies to improve urban living. By integrating AI with parking management, the emirate aims to create a more efficient, user-friendly, and fair parking experience for residents and visitors alike.
As the new system expands, drivers can expect smoother parking processes, better space availability, and stricter enforcement against violations — all contributing to reduced congestion and enhanced road safety in Dubai.
