Here are the New Paid Parking Areas in Abu Dhabi

Drivers in Mohamed Bin Zayed City (MBZ City) will soon encounter a new parking regulation as Q Mobility, under the supervision of the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) of the Department of Municipalities and Transport, activates a paid parking system in two new commercial sectors. Effective Tuesday, May 6, 2026, the paid parking scheme will expand to cover commercial sectors ME9 and ME12, marking the third phase of a strategic rollout designed to optimize parking usage and alleviate traffic congestion in one of the emirate's most bustling areas.

The expansion targets zones characterized by high traffic density and surging commercial activity. By introducing fees in ME9 and ME12, authorities aim to curb random parking, ensure smoother access to shops and service providers, and foster a more organized urban environment. This initiative is a direct response to the daily influx of employees and visitors that characterizes MBZ City, utilizing innovative solutions to manage the heavy vehicle movement and enhance the overall experience for road users.

The new phase encompasses a total of 10,205 parking spaces. Sector ME9 will include 3,219 spaces, while the larger sector ME12 will offer 6,986 spaces. Notably, the allocation includes designated spots for People of Determination, underscoring Q Mobility's commitment to inclusivity and the provision of smart, sustainable mobility solutions that cater to all residents and visitors.

Motorists will be charged a fee of Dh2 per hour for standard parking spaces. To ensure convenience and flexibility, payments can be processed through multiple digital channels, including the "Darb" and "TAMM" applications, via SMS services, or through physical payment machines located within the designated areas. This multi-channel approach is designed to provide a seamless user experience for everyone utilizing the new zones.

This activation follows a phased approach that began in late 2025. The initial phase, launched on December 15, 2025, covered sectors ME9, ME10, ME11, and ME12 with free parking to allow for adjustment. The second phase, introduced on April 6, 2026, implemented paid parking in sectors ME10 and ME11, along with main street commercial areas in villa zones Z17-01, Z19, Z20, and Z27. With the May 6 activation, the paid parking network in MBZ City reaches a critical milestone in its strategy to improve traffic flow and support the economic vitality of the region.

Q Mobility emphasizes that this expansion is a key component of a broader integrated strategy to enhance parking management efficiency and support the quality of life in Abu Dhabi. The move aligns with the emirate's vision to develop a sustainable and advanced urban mobility ecosystem, ensuring that infrastructure keeps pace with the growing demands of its dynamic communities.
