Great news for motorists in Sharjah! Public parking will be free across the emirate on Monday, June 15, to celebrate the Hijri New Year holiday.

However, please note that this free parking does not apply to smart parking yards or the designated blue-zone parking spaces. These blue zones operate 24/7, even during public holidays, so standard charges will still apply there. You can easily identify these areas by their blue signboards.

Standard Parking Rules in Sharjah

As a reminder, public parking in Sharjah is generally free in standard zones on Fridays. In these normal zones, parking is also free overnight from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM. Always check the local signboards to avoid any fines, especially since blue-marked zones remain active and paid at all times, including weekends and holidays.

Free Parking and Tolls Across the UAE

Motorists in other emirates can also look forward to free parking and toll exemptions on Monday, June 15:

  • Dubai: Public parking is expected to be free for the holiday, following the standard Road and Transport Authority (RTA) rules. Please note that multi-storey parking buildings will still charge standard fees.
  • Abu Dhabi: Public parking (Mawaqif) will be free during the holiday, with standard fees starting again the next working day. Additionally, the Darb toll gates will be free of charge, giving drivers extra savings.
