Indian PM Modi to Visit the UAE on This Date

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on an official visit to the United Arab Emirates this Friday, marking a significant step in reinforcing the long-standing and strategic partnership between the two nations. The visit comes as part of Modi’s broader six-day tour of Europe, where he is scheduled to visit the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and Italy, according to India’s Ministry of External Affairs.

A Visit to Bolster Historical and Economic Ties

The UAE and India share deep-rooted relations that trace back to the formation of the Emirates. Today, the UAE is home to approximately four million Indian citizens, making it the largest expatriate community in the country. This strong people-to-people connection has laid the foundation for robust economic and diplomatic ties.

One of the key milestones in recent years was the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), signed in 2022. This landmark deal, the first CEPA for the UAE, propelled bilateral trade between the two nations to over $85 billion. Under the agreement, India became the UAE’s largest trading partner, while the UAE secured its position as India’s third-largest trading partner.

Recent High-Level Engagements

Modi’s upcoming visit follows a series of high-profile interactions between the two nations. In January 2026, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed paid a working visit to New Delhi, where he held talks with Modi. The leaders reviewed progress in key sectors, including technology, artificial intelligence, economy, and food security, and witnessed the exchange of agreements aimed at advancing cooperation.

During the visit, Sheikh Mohamed reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to collaborating with India on “sustainable development and economic growth”, as shared on social media.

A Landmark Visit in 2024

Modi’s last visit to the UAE in 2024 was particularly notable. He addressed a crowd of 40,000 Indians at Zayed Sports City Stadium in Abu Dhabi and delivered a keynote speech at the World Governments Summit in Dubai. Additionally, he inaugurated the first Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi, symbolizing the cultural and religious harmony between the two nations.

What Lies Ahead

As Modi’s visit approaches, expectations are high for further advancements in trade, technology, and cultural exchanges. With both nations committed to deepening their partnership, this visit is poised to set the stage for even greater collaboration in the years to come.
