Maersk Temporarily Suspends Two Services Connecting Middle East With Far East and Europe

Global shipping operator A.P. Moller – Maersk has announced the temporary suspension of two of its key services connecting the Middle East with the Far East and Europe, citing safety and operational concerns.

The company confirmed that the FM1 service, which connects the Middle East to the Far East, and the ME11 service linking the region to Europe, will be suspended for the time being. In addition, Maersk’s shuttle services operating within the Gulf region have also been halted until further notice.

As part of the operational adjustment, the ME1 service, which covers routes between the Middle East and Northern Europe, will temporarily skip its call at Jebel Ali and instead proceed directly to ports in India and Oman.

Maersk stated that the decision was taken as a precautionary step to protect personnel and vessels while aiming to minimise disruption across its global shipping network.

“This decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of our personnel and vessels while minimising operational disruption across our wider network,” the company said in its official statement.

The suspension reflects ongoing efforts by the shipping operator to navigate regional operational risks while maintaining service stability across its international routes.
