Macaroni and cheese is a dish of cooked any bite-sized pasta and a cheese sauce. It can be prepared on top of the stove or baked in the oven until golden brown.

Macaroni and Cheese

1 box elbow macaroni
¼ cup butter
¼ cup flour
salt and black pepper to taste
2 cups milk
2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese

  1. Cook the macaroni

    Bring a pot of water to a boil, then cook elbow macaroni for about 8 minutes until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Make the roux

    Start by melting the butter in a saucepan over medium heat, add flour, salt, and pepper, and stir for 2 minutes until smooth, then pour in the milk and stir until the mixture is smooth again.
  3. Add cheese and macaroni

    Remove the roux from heat, add shredded cheese to the sauce, and stir until melted, then add the macaroni, and toss until coated.
