T20 World Cup 2026: India Wins Pakistan by 61 Runs

In a high-octane Group A clash at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, India delivered a clinical performance to defeat Pakistan by 61 runs in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, securing a place in the Super 8 stage with a perfect record.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, India posted a formidable 175/7 in their 20 overs, thanks largely to a blistering 77-run knock from Ishan Kishan off 40 balls that featured 10 fours and three sixes. Kishan’s aggressive approach, supported by Tilak Varma (25) and captain Suryakumar Yadav (32), helped India recover from early setbacks and set a competitive target on a tricky Colombo pitch.

In response, Pakistan’s chase quickly faltered as India’s bowlers applied relentless pressure. Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah struck early, reducing Pakistan to 13/3 and never allowing them to build momentum. Although Usman Khan top-scored with 44, the rest of the batting lineup struggled to cope with India’s disciplined attack, being bowled out for 114 in 18 overs.

The bowling effort was a collective display, with Pandya, Bumrah, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakaravarthy all chipping in with key wickets to dismantle Pakistan’s lineup.

With this emphatic win, defending champions India remain unbeaten in Group A, topping the table and moving into the Super 8 stage. Pakistan, meanwhile, face a crucial fight to stay alive in the tournament, needing results to go their way in the remaining fixtures.

The rivalry match not only underscored India’s dominance, extending their T20 World Cup head-to-head record, but also sparked celebrations and widespread praise from fans and former players alike.

Key Performers:

  • Ishan Kishan: 77 (40) – Player of the Match
  • Suryakumar Yadav: 32 (29)
  • Usman Khan (PAK): 44 (34)

India’s comprehensive win will boost confidence as they prepare for the next stage of the T20 World Cup, while Pakistan will need to regroup quickly to revive their campaign.
